The Business & Technology
Department prepares students for college and/or for the world
of work. They must satisfy all academic requirements along with
computer and business courses. Sudents learn the latest computer
software and business applications in their business classes.
Applications taught in the courses include: word processing,
spreadsheets, computerized accounting, database, slide presentations,
desktop publishing, Internet applications, Java programming
and web design using HTML, web design development tools such
as Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator and ImageReady. Students
have the option of joining the Alternate-Week Cooperative Education
Program in their senior year.
In order to be accepted into
the Computer/Business Institue, the student must choose CBI
as their first or second choice. In order to remain in the program,
the students must be successful in their computer electives.
Students who attain a high degree of competency in MS Office
software are eligible for testing to obtain MOS Certification.
Students who attain a high degree of competency in Web Design
and Accounting are eligible to take a certification exam in
Web Design and Accounting to receive CTE State Certification.
Students in all programs at
Curtis have the opportunity to take the courses offered in the
Computer/Business Institute as electives. Those who are thinking
of majoring in business in college will benefit from sampling
these courses.
